about me

Your learning is my joy.

My Mission:

Helping basic to advanced learners with reading, writing and speaking English and giving them confidence in their growing abilities.

Experience:

I have always loved books and writing.  I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in British and American Literature and a certificate in Journalism.

I have been a freelance journalist for years, writing for large and small publications.  I have written content for websites.

I taught English & journalism in middle and high schools for 17 years and have taught and tutored on-line for grade school through college.  I also was a school newspaper adviser and took my students to competitions.

During my teaching experiences, I have helped many students who were learning English for the first time.  I have traveled to Brazil and speak some Portuguese and Spanish.  I enjoy learning about other languages and cultures.  When I studied Spanish, I was fascinated to learn that words have gender; in Portuguese the word used sometimes depends on the gender of the speaker.  I understand many, common errors that English learners make.

I am from New York, and have lived in Florida and Missouri and held a state teacher’s certificate to teach English in both Florida and Missouri.

I also enjoy the outdoors and like to go camping and hiking.
